Units Scale

VERY SIMPLE

  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut up or cubed
  • 2 cups self-rising flour (Get the good stuff… White Lily, Martha White, Pillsbury, Gold Medal)
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • A a little melted butter

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, cut butter into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.  Use a fork or butter cutter.
  • Stir in buttermilk just until moistened. Feel free to use a fork at first, then flour your hands and bring it all together.
  • Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead 3-4 times.
  • Pat or lightly roll to 1/2in or 3/4-in. thick.  Choose your thickness!
  • Cut with a floured biscuit cutter, or use the rim of a glass.
  • Place on a baking sheet. No need to grease it!
  • HINT: Place the biscuits side by side to help them RISE to their potential!!
  • Bake at 425° until golden brown, 11-13 minutes.
  • Brush tops with that melted butter.
  • Serve!

Notes

Eat them warm… My kids love them even as an afterschool snack.
Just ensure you have a NICE Jam or Jelly to help make it special.
