It just keeps raining… I mean I thought it would stop in April… but did May come? Do you feel like spring never sprung? Or like you’re stuck in a season of rain?
Be still and be rooted in the beautiful truth that even the heaviest rains can lead to breathtaking blooms. As I reflect on the personal storms of grief, transition, and letting go—from losing my mom (April birthday), miscarriage, career transition and leaving my truly beloved home—I’m reminded that rain isn’t just sorrow; it’s preparation.
My mom told me of a Southern tradition years ago at my father’s funeral procession. It was pouring rain. She spoke of how many believed that rain at a funeral symbolized heavenly tears welcoming a soul home. Yet as believers, we know rain in Scripture symbolizes cleansing, restoration, and new life (Isaiah 55:10, Zechariah 10:1, Psalm 65:9-12).
Even in our hardest seasons, God is at work—tilling the soil of our hearts, planting seeds of healing, and preparing us for a greater harvest (John 15:5, Jeremiah 17:7-8). Though the process is painful, His promise remains: “the old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
As we step into today’s puddles, or tomorrow’s new season, I invite you to believe again in miracles, signs, and wonders—not superstition, but the truth of Christ’s unfailing love and purpose for you.
Let the rain that has fallen over your life water the gardens God has planted in you. Trust that in His timing, you will see the blooms.
"See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me."
Song of Solomon 2:11-13
