Description
Whip up a burst of flavor with a batch of cranberry sauce made from FRESH cranberries! Tart cranberries blended with sweet and savory ingredients for a versatile, delightful sauce. Perfect for holiday meals or as a tasty condiment any time of year!
Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup orange juice
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 12 ounces cranberries
- 1 short of Dark Myers Rum….(my secret ingredient)… Yum!
Remember to wash those cranberries well. Remove the stems if needed. Remove the bad ones.
Instructions
- In a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, pour in and dissolve the sugar and orange juice. A wooden spoon does a great job for this one.
- Pour in the cranberries and cook until the cranberries start to pop (about 10 minutes).
- Use your spoon to help pop the unpopped ones. It helps to ensure they’re all “mashed”.
- Add the secret ingredient if you like!
- Remove from heat and place the sauce in a bowl.
The Cranberry Sauce will thicken as it cools.
Notes
I usually make this the day BEFORE a dinner or event… or the night before your special dinner.
A great make-ahead side dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter.
As the next day, its nicely congealed.
